So here is the promised pirate track. Keep in mind that this is not a three-and-a-half-minute radio hit. Like all of the music in the game, it’s dynamic, changing according to where in the level you are. This is done by making vast amounts of loops that play well together and turning them on and off. So when you here this imagine you are running from pirate ship to another, dropping ink on monsters, and inventing your own genious contraption to get from a to b.
Another thing about the audio in the game is our metronome, which handles just about all sound effects in the game. It then syncronizes the sounds on the fly to match the music in the level. So for instance when you knock down a pile of boxes and they fall to the ground, the sound of each box hitting the ground is triggered just in time to make it sound like it’s a part of the music.
It’s hard to explain without sounding silly – you’ll have to hear and try for yourself.
The development of the pirateworld is now taking shape and it’s looking and sounding great.
The first two levels in the world are now playable on the Wii and they feel really good. In addition Analogik has made a truly amazing pirate song to set the mood. We’ll make a player on the blog, so you can hear it, first thing monday morning.
So prepare yourself to guide Max through a world of wooden legs, treasure maps, skulls, parrots, wooden rafts, cannons, rum, and everything else that goes with the pirate lifestile.
In between meetings, ice cream and parties Ole asked me to update the blog. So I will. First of all it’s really nice to be here! Everybody is very nice and welcoming and I hear a lot of nice things about Max – that is very comforthing. Secondly, as I have a soft spot for German food and culture (help me someone) I enjoy Cologne a lot. Thirdly, business is good but a bit too secret to write about here. And finally I’ve done a few interviews – however I fear they will drown in the massive information load from small time publishers as Take2, Activision and EA.
Still, I’ll be around the Nordic Booth in halle 4 (business area) if anyone care for a chat.
If you are in Cologne these days you should make sure to come by the Gamescom! I will be there representing Press Play, so if you care to have a chat about Max and perhaps even a quick look, please feel free to contact me on my mobile +45 21732860. I will mostly be around the Nordic Game booth in the business area (halle 4) so swinging by there casualy could also work. Hope to see you there.
