The good news is that I’ve got someone to help me with the level design. The new addition to the team is Kasper, and he’s super-cool. If we’re lucky, Asger (you met him a few posts down) will also be able to join the design mix. But then the levels might become too awesome to play. The bad new is that I’ve got the flu, and to make sure that it does not affect my design-mojo it is very important that everyone feels sorry for me. Go on…
…awesome, thanks.
Old Press Player, Asger Vigen Jørgensen went and did this tribute piece of fine graffiti art in Copenhagen the other day. It features Max’ arch-enemy: the purple monster with his ink-vacuumer. Nice job Asger!
If any of you are in Madrid next week you should swing by the Idéame – a young developers conference at the Complutense University Wedensday or Thursday. Press Play will be there to show some of Max & the Magic Marker and to participate in discussions on the indie game business. It is going to be great – and probably also very warm.
So here it is – the first official trailer of Max and the Magic Marker. We are very proud to show the first glimpse of how you can expect the game to look. However, as you can see some things are still a bit scruffy like the big blue box of water.
It’s been a long month, and an even longer Tuesday but we have finally reached alpha.
Lasse has been practicing his brand of magic and his new artwork has been implemented in some of the levels. Tasty, tasty eye-candy. I’ve finished constructing the levels and they are now playable-esk… ahem. On top of that Mikkel has been tweaking Max’s movement and controls ever closer to perfection while wrestling the Nintendo development kit into submission and punching bugs in the face. All he’s missing is a cape and spandex.
We also have 2 additions, Asger and Stine on the team! Well, Asger was doing audio and level design for the game at an earlier time and has come back for more but Stine is brand new and will be working with Lasse on the graphics. Say hello. Here’s a picture:
A part of the studio (myself included) are going to the Roskilde Festival today. Aside from getting drunk and passing out in the sun, we’ll have the pleasure of seeing our friend Asger Standby and the rest of Analogik perform. They will be playing on the Astoria Stage 3:00 friday night and it is going to be great. Hopefully we’ll have time do an interview with them to post on the blog.
It turns out that having an office on the 4’th floor in an old building with constant sun is not as desirable as it may sound. Especially not when you’re a decendant of the vikings and Darwin didn’t prepare you for global warming.
Anyway we are now one week from an alpha version with all levels and puzzles running – oh yeah!!! So if you want to come by the office and have a go – get in touch…
